Most likely going to go on a bear hunt pretty soon in May. Just wondering if you guys have any tips for a first time bear hunter like myself. Going to try and get one with a bow so any tips you may have will be totally helpful! i.e. broad head type, tips on where to shoot (heard the fur can be deceiving) etc. Will keep you guys updated on this adventure if i end up going! Any good quality broadhead will work. The 3 that I have shot with a bow I have used a G5 Montec.. Aim for the lower third, the vitals are low in the chest cavity. Other then that, you'll be fine with your deer setup!
Use you're whitetail set up. The lungs are a tad smaller on a bear but still just aim where you would on a whitetail. Remember though that some bears will have longer hair so what you think is the bottom of the gut on a bear is actually where the hair ends, not where the body ends. Good luck!
