How does most of you have your trigger set on your release, real light or heavy or in between? Thanks, jr 1968.
i go on the heavy side, no travel. heavy enough to not go off before pressure is applied, but not so heavy i have to "punch" it when im ready to let it fly.
I only shoot a trigger when it gets really cold during hunting season. Thick gloves and a hinge don't mix well. I go light with no travel. I draw finger behind the trigger so the thick gloves do not set it off.
I bet your punching with the light, you just notice it more with the heavy. Blank bail and aiming drills can fix this. It will get worse before it gets better. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
No, actually my target panic and trigger punching stopped after I bought that Carter RX2 release and set it with a light trigger and no travel. I wasn't comfortable with it on heavy pull, it wasn't until I adjusted it light that I got the problems under control. Everyone is different and I seem more odd than most, lol.
Don't know what you call "hairy" brother...as far as I recall I never said "a hair trigger" but "light". All I know is it's not on the heavy side of the adjustment but on the lighter side....whatever that may be. At any rate it doesn't require me adding much pressure to it to reach break over. I adjusted it to the light side with the standard spring that came already in it and have been happy with it.
In the off season play with the heavier settings and focus on pulling through the shot... If you can get that down and master shooting it with your back muscles you'll see your accuracy improve. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ahh, okay I just misinterpreted what you meant. I've not had any accuracy issues since I changed to the Carter release. I killed three deer last season after being out of archery for three years. My groups out past 50 yards are a bit loose compared to my old bow but I feel that has more to do with my aging sight and a shorter brace height on this bow than I've ever shot. I'm past my long range show off days anyway and would rather limit my shots to under thirty anyway. As long as I keep having no problems getting shooters to thirty and under, lol.
I have NO idea if my release is light, heavy or in-between. When I purchased my bow in '08 the bow tech at the shop watched me shoot, took my release, set it... and I've been shooting it ever since. Oh, he use to shoot competition for years... so whatever he did and/or suggested to me - I followed. Served me well.
