Just thought I'd share a new development in my life/career with my fellow forum members. I've been in manufacturing for a little over 8 years now. 6 of the 8 has been management of some sort. Most has been process improvement and research and development. I have always enjoyed my jobs but, there has been something lacking. I have a passion for manufacturing and managing people. The lacking comes from products I've helped produce. Well, that's about to change. About 3 months ago I started helping a company do some product testing on a new target line that has impressed me. I have set up some testing on my own and started collecting data. I have been submitting the data and make suggestions for the product. On Thursday I received an email requesting me to call the owner. I did and he wanted to sit down and discuss my employment with them. Yesterday morning we met and things went very well. I came home talked it over with my wife, prayed about it an have decided to accept his offer. I'll be officially accepting Tomorrow. Finally, the piece that has been missing from my career is now there. I will be combining both passions, archery and manufacturing in one. I'll be responsible for most of the finalized product, designing the production line and putting processes am procedures in place for the start of production of a new archery target product line! It's a big move on my part as I have much potential growth with the company I am currently employed by but, I have no feelings of reservation and feel great about the decision. In the future I'll probably be asking my fellow BH.com members opinions and suggestions for the new line. I can't wait to hear feedback.
That's a awesome opportunity. Combining work and passion is my goal for the future. Let us know how it goes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's a new company in the industry called Walk-on Archery. They're based and manufacturing will be based in Salisbury, NC. They've been a leader in the Carpet padding industry for many years. Our goal is to make the best targets on the planet while using as many recourses from the US as possible. My personal goal is to use my experience in archery along with the knowledge and voice of archers to make a target that both last a long time and is made with pride. That's why I'll be asking for feed back and opinions of you guys on the forums.
Outstanding! Ain't nothin' like having a passion for what you're doing... congratulations on your 'new' career.
Yes sir! I pray about everything! When it comes to these types of decisions I leave it in his hands and let him lead me. I haven't made a bad decision that way yet. It's when I thought I knew the answers without him involved is when life wasn't so grand. I learned the hard way.
Congrats!! Since you've got a say in this, please do me a favor. I will choose American made products from American companies 100% of the time. However, if I have to search for the American Flag or can't find it, it's frustrating. Please put the flag big enough and in a place that guys like me who care about this sort of thing can find it easily. Good luck and keep us posted.
