I was doing a little shed hunting in my woods when I came across these tracks. I'm thinking that they might be cougar tracks. What do you guys think?

Hard to say for sure since they're older. How far apart were the strides? Could be a lynx?

They've melted some, but definitely look like a large cat track. Like Fitz said, lynx have huge paws, but you're too far south for them. I would go with cougar tracks.

Dan, that's what I thought. I've got bobcat here but never seen a lynx. For that matter, I've never seen a cougar either. They have been spotted in the area.

Looks like a big cat to me. Maybe you will catch one on a trail cam.

Going to take you guys in a different direction. Not knowing where you are located or the track pattern, I'm throwing out there that its an otter. In snow you usually only see four toes and a fresh track can measure 3"x3"or 4"x4". Now lets take in to consideration how tracks tend to look bigger as the snow melts. My guess dont hold back if you think I'm crazy!

What's the stride length? No doubt they look too big for a bobcat, unless the melting snow is really playing tricks on us. A walking mountain lion has about an 18" stride length.

Deffinitely a squatch trying to act like a cougar, they are really sneaky. Could also be a Black Panther.

Dan you would probably know from your guiding in Canada, but I'm curious if you would be able to make out the individual pad prints on a lynx? Doesn't the fur from their paws cover under their paws as well to allow them to run on top of the snow?

I really don't think its a lynx, not in Wisconsin. My guess is a cougar.
