Here is a prime example on just how deadly this frontal shot on an elk can be. Granted, conditions must be ideal for this. My bull this year was shot at 10 yards, lived for under 10 seconds, and only made it 40-50 yards. Facebook is being a PITA and will not allow me to embed the video here. Hope this works. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=1417141781870858&set=vb.100007251492752&type=2&theater
I saw this yesterday and was amazed at the speed the blood poured out and how fast the elk went down. Sent from my iPhone
I shared that video on FB yesterday. That blood pouring out was crazy. That bull had no idea what happened to him. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
Anyway to post it up for the people who don't have facebook? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
That was unbelievable. Couldn't help but laugh when the bull did a header right in the dirt. Great shot and video!!!
He hit every major artery in the body. That is why the frontal shot is so devastating, blood circulation ceases.
Most likely the aorta of vena cava. They are the two biggest arteries on the body (at least for humans) and both come right from the heart Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's a fairly typical result to a well placed frontal shot. Excellent video. The the kid nailed the shot.
Great shot by that kid, one of the most lethal shots you can take if you're not shooting from an elevated position. Thanks for sharing backcountry!
Excellent shot and result. Looks more like arterial blood than venous blood to me, so I'd say it hit the ascending aorta and carotid arteries. Regardless, its a slam dunk shot on such a large animal at close range. Stretching the limits on distance is when this shot gets dicey as it's a much smaller target than a broadside shot.
I had to watch it twice...I thought the blood was a laser sight for a gun. Make that 3 times...it was his lumenok
