    Howdy,

Last November I shot a bobcat off my property and I think it's a beautiful cat. I'd like to get it mounted but I'm not sure what kind of mount to go for. My dad is going to take it in next week and see what the taxidermist thinks, but does anyone have any cool mounts or have seen cool mounts? I can't decide if I want it on the wall or on a table. Thanks!

The rock ledge wall mount you posted is the one I was going to suggest. Find a taxi that has done bobcats before. The cat face look is one of the hardest to pull off correct. Just look at the ones you posted. The top one looks great. The rest have something that just looks a little off to me. Good luck!

Thanks. Any ideas how well the hole from the G5 T3 can be patched up? Worried about that and it being in the freezer.

I'm sure he'll be able to answer those for me when I take it in

Not sure how much you are willing to spend, but a friend of mine from college had a full body mount of both a bobcat and coyote facing each other reared up in an attack pose. It is one of the best mounts I've seen done. Aside from that I like the wall mounts you have pictured above.

I like mounts that give you some inclination about what you'd expect the animal to be doing if you ran across it in the wild. If I had a mile high view of a bobcat, I'd expect him to be stalking something, maybe a rabbit. I'd put him in some sort of a stalking pose. I might even go out and arrow a rabbit....

So in a nutshell, I go with action pose...Bobcat chasing and taking a swipe at a rabbit. Yep, that would be sweet.

This is one of the coolest mounts I've seen recently. I bet the bobcat would look just as cool.

    That is absolutely stunning.

OP, have you seen any cats your taxi has done? They are, IMHO, the hardest of all species to mount. Not every taxi has the skill. I would never make that decision without a healthy amount of pictures detailing previous work.

Only thing I would like to add is be sure the taxi has a reputation to do cats in general.

It's all about the eyes when a cat is mounted. I researched for a few months before I found the right guy to do my Mt. Lion.

Good luck to you, very nice Bobcat!

I had typed that into my post, and erased it because I didn't want to offend anyone. But I'm glad you said it. You can't have a bobcat in a stalking pose, and have his eyes look like he's about to nod off from a heroin overdose. You also can't have him look like he's cross-eyed.

I have not seen any bobcats but I have seen just about every other species he has done. He has been in contact with me over the day and it sounds like he knows what he is doing. My buddy got his 170" buck done there, and I've gotten 3-4 different ducks, all which have looked far better than any other taxidermist I've used.

I would still ask for cat pictures. Deer and cats are a different world.

Good advice on here and that is a pretty cat.
Things I'll pick out that have been posted....
Love the quail swatting suggestion but I'm biased (see my handle).
That cougar drinking is effin amazing on so many levels I think I pee'd my pants a little.
That messed up bobcat mount did make me pee myself,

bobcat hunting down the rabbit is awesome. I have never been a fan of mount of sitting animals. The action mounts are obviously way cooler, but it does take a certain level of skill. The walking on the rocks and on falling timber are winners in my book too.
