Anyone see winter deer beds with blood in them? Just curious what is happening to cause several beds in an area that have blood in them like the pic below. Found several today that had blood and tracks into/out of this spot that had small blood spots in the tracks that led to this spot too.............maybe pregnant does?

After a freezing rain or even after a warm spell and then turning bitter cold again the snow will get a layer of ice or a crust on top of it that wears on the deers legs causing open sores.

If it's a hard winter, it could also be from does having miscarriages.

If this is late winter, could be from sheds. Have you seen a new shed deer, blood will run down their face.

I think it is due to the hard crust of ice on top if the snow causing wounds to their legs which leads to the blood spot
