Black spots on deer lungs

I shot a buck this morning and while field dressing him I noticed both sides of the lungs had huge black spots everywhere. Would you eat this deer? What caused it? I am guessing pneumonia? I had read this on another site but not sure if its true.

Just eat it .....don't eat the lungs tho!

I believe that could be TB. I would have your deer checked by the local DNR check station

 

It could also just be blood clots in the lungs from the trauma of being shot. I would still have it checked though IMO

It's not from the trauma of being shot. These spots have been on the lungs for awhile and are obvious they have something to do with a disease or sickness

I would have it checked by DNR.

 

I'd eat it. sounds like upper respiratory infection. I can't think of one that can cause illness in humans by eating the meat.

and...claim your deer in the teaser thread!! I think it's on page two now. LOL

 

Option one, get it checked and make sure it doesn't have anything that could wind you up in the hospital. Option two, don't get it checked and risk ending up in the hospital. Im not a gambler so I would go with the first one.

I just did a quick search on Google and got a few results but this one seemed to be the best. I would still have it checked just to be sure.

pretty sure I'd eat it without a second thought.

 

I shot a doe last year. An she had the same thing (only on one lung though). I never really thought much about it. She tasted just as good

 

Lots of girly men in this post..

 

Lots of men that want to be able to watch their kids grow up! Something simple like this COULD, Repeat that COULD make you really sick, so no reason not to check it out.
