If you were deaf or very hard of hearing would you still hunt? You would miss out on all the wonderful sounds in the woods and you would have to rely on your vision to locate deer.
I would sound is huge but not everything. I already have hearing aids and in about 20 yrs they dont know what hearing i will have at that point. But Yes I would Deffinatly hunt my friend
I would Deffinitly still hunt. In my area I see them way before hearing them anyway. Sent from iPhone
I know a number of "wise" hunters that have lost their hearing over the years yet still hunt. Would make it very challenging but you may be surprised at how many hunters are hard of hearing. That wouldn't keep me out of the woods. Still got my vision and my sniffer!
Yes. Id miss out on all the wonderful sounds of everything in life, but id still do things. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
I worked on the back of a drill rig for years and my hearing is not what it used to be and there is no way I could ever give up hunting. I did buy a pair of hearing enhancers a couple of years ago and it wasnt like I was younger but it was close enough.
I bet I would treestand hunt less here in the Midwest. There's something about hearing the sounds of the woods and wondering if that sound 200 yards away is a deer. Without that, I don't think it would be nearly as enjoyable for me. I would probably end up trying to hunt out west more and do more spot and stalk hunting.
I am nearly deaf in my left ear and it makes hunting more difficult. I dont hear well, and what I do hear is hard to pinpoint direction on. I notice it the most while turkey hunting. I can hear them in the distance but have a really hard time knowing what direction to go. I have to spin around to different angles and hope he gobbles several times so I can get a direction on him. But, I would definitely still go hunting, even if completely deaf. I would just park myself on a good field edge and throw out some decoys and wait.
Sound is a lot of why I hunt. Especially those drizzle days where the sounds of the rain and any wild life makes it so peaceful. I still enjoy watching though. I see a lot more than deer in an area. In a way I think it would make me more alert. So yes, I would still hunt but, would miss the sounds.
Yep there would be no way i would not hunt. Like everyone has said hearing is just one part of the hunt. Yes it would be difficult but its possible.
I have a friend who had to start wearing hearing aids because he was 80% deaf in both ears. He was so excited about getting them... when he did, he wore them a week, then took them out because he couldn't stand the noise. He had a wife and two daughters at home at the time. Sometimes silence is golden... I would definitely keep hunting and I think I may enjoy it even more.
