when watching some of these hunting shows,i'm wondering why some hunters shoot with cock vane up and others with it down.? Would it matter with a drop-a-way rest ?

Probably old habits from when they first started shooting bows. Different rests dictated how the cock feather faced.

i shoot cock vane (or odd vane) down just out of habit. the pro shop guy told my girlfriend to shoot with it up with the ultra rest i had put on her bow. im sure he was hoping he wouldnt have to adjust the rest but he had to anyway because the fletching was hitting

I think it's all a matter if set up. My rest is the trophy ridge revolution and I shoot cock vane out(right handed, vane away from my riser) to make sure I have clearance.

Cock vane up is recommended for some fallaways for extra clearance.

On most of the "newer" models it doesnt matter.. They all have complete vane clearance. I know on my rest it doesnt mater how i have the cock vane. I do have mine on top though. I shoot the ripcord drop-away. SICK rest! ;)
