    Hi,

I am fairly new to this site but have been hunting for a good 4-5 years, always using hand-me-down bows. I have currently been using the PSE Baby G-force but want to upgrade. I have found two bows for sale that I am contemplating:

    2009 Bowtech Captain for $450

    or

2012 Diamond Dead Eye for $550

    or

    get something brand new

Please let me know what you think

I've never shot the diamond but I have a 2009 Captain and I will tell you that it is the smoothest bow I ever shot. This from a 25 year Hoyt shooter.

    Blessings.......Pastorjim

Is the 2012 Diamond a used bow? If it is why is someone getting rid of it already?

Thats what I was thinking too. I sent the guy an email asking why he was getting rid of it but havent heard beck yet.

I guess a better question might be is if I am looking to upgrade my bow and get the most bang for my buck what are some opinions as to what I should buy brand new/look for used for around $500.

The deadeye is a good bow for sure. If you have good form then i would go with the Diamond for the FPS of 343. If you need a longer brace height then go with the bowtech.

You can get an awfully good bare bow for the 500 range. I too was in the same boat this past winter. I wanted to upgrade, but refused to pay 900 for a new bow. I started looking around and found a '11 Bowtech Destroyer for 525. The bow is in near perfect shape.

I would highly advise at the very least shooting the models you're looking at before trying to buy one. You may or may not like what you thought you would and want something different.

I got the 2012 PSE Brute X and I love it. It's right around your price range and it performs like the more expensive bows on the market.

You may even be able to get some new 2011 bows on closeout if you look around. Was in Cabelas a few months ago and in their Bargain Cave they had some brand new Diamonds (2010-11 models) on closeout right around $350-$400, that was bare bow of course (they had various models/specs - remember they had the STUD and ICEMAN for sure)... Just another option...
