The neighbor down the road told us today that IL just passed a law that makes it illegal to hunt over a food plot. It has been illegal to put out food, salt/mineral blocks, etc for quite some time, and food plots were the only thing they allowed. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I put my little brother on it, he's better at finding what he's looking for on the net than the rest of us, but I thought I would throw the topic out there to see what others had heard
I couldn't see em doing that, but then again IL has some really confused lawmakers. I was reading UofI paper on food plots today and it said that was the only legal option. Don't know when it was last updated, so I wanted to be sure. Thanks for chiming in Christine
Only new laws or regulation changes for this coming deer season is the "purple paint" law and a sling-shot deer season in IL. It would be a little difficult banning people hunting the edge of a bean, corn, alfalfa, etc....field.
I read about the 'purple paint' law. That is awesome. They need to get the word out better so more people will know what it means when they see the paint tho. I hadn't heard about the sling-shot season. That should be interesting
where do you hunt at down at UofI ? im Going to school down there next year and im trying to figure out the hunting situation.
I have not heard that either! If that is the case I guess the farmers are going to be shut down for making money!
Below is the link to the bowhunting.com article regarding the Purple Paint Law in case anyone missed it: http://www.bowhunting.com/publisher...urple-Paint-Law-will-Help-Prevent-Trespassing
I don't hunt at U of I. I hunt about 45 minutes south of there. I was reading some info from U of I on foodplots. Here is the link if anyone wants to check it out. Some decent info in it... http://web.extension.illinois.edu/fjprw/downloads/6089.pdf
