Carrying this over from our Facebook page - would you shoot an albino deer if it were legal in your state? I'd like to hear everyone's opinions for and against.

Me personally, I would do it in a heartbeat if it were legal. There's no scientific basis for protecting albino deer, and it would be a once in a lifetime trophy.

I would shoot a mature Albino buck for sure. I would pass on an Albino doe in hopes she had more. :)

Yes I would, and I actually know a couple people who have. We actually spotted a half albino deer right under one of our stands after Christmas.

Knowing who I am and what type of Hunter I am I wouldn't....for me the fact that they are something you don't see everyday (at least I don't) and it's just rare imho....but this is coming from a guy who has hunted for over 25yrs...and I didn't harvest my 1st Doe until I was 19yrs old (and I'm 40 now) and even to this day I haven't taken a Doe down in over 5yrs...just something I've never dealt with I guess...but also have no issues with anyone who would take a Albino...I mean they would make a beautiful Mount on a wall in the basement

To me an Albino is no different than a deer born with 3 legs, it may be rare but it's still a genetic defect and if given the opportunity I'm taking it out of the herd.... Plus it would be going on my wall :-)

So then using this logic I assume you also wouldn't shoot a 220" non-typical with double drops?

As far as I know they taste the same as regular deer.

I'd love to shoot one, I actually am thinking of targeting an albino next fall in a nearby area there are a few around.

If it was legal. You bet. And it would get mounted.
