Just picked one up to try for the season. anyone use one yet? Any tips and or ideas on mounting? Used it for tree stand set up and branch trimming so far, can't wait to get it out there on Oct. 1.
No but I've thought about getting one. I plan to do more ground hunting this year and thought it would be cool to get a kill on video. Can you post up some of the video you've taken?
I'll be using one, wish I had it last year! The only cons for hunting are: not good in low light no zoom Pros: Quality of footage is outstanding, no jumping of video Wide lens! Small, lots of mounting options Available LCD backpack is really cool to see what you're filming and for playback Great battery life Set for nonstop still photos for taking the trophy pics by yourself (which I usually am) I bought a handlebar mount, and I can mount it to the bow. Also made a hat cam for general footage. I have the helmet strap, but I like this better.
Hummm, I was looking at this last night. I bought the Cabelas glasses this year and I was wondering how well they are going to work. This video footage seems to be of better quality. DID I BUY THE WRONG THING?
Ive had the GoPro and Epic cam for a few years. I havent used them a whole lot, I tried to use them for turkey hunting, dove hunting and some bow hunting, but for 20 to 40 yard shots they dont really work all that well, no zoom. It does work great for capturing footage facing you though like when youre making the shot etc, but I wouldnt plan on using it as your main camera.
My son and I are having the same conversation right now. have looked at the Go Pro's and have checked out a couple other brands (Pentax W90, Sanyo Xacti 100). Pentax has great reviews and solid specs, but pricey at $600. Sanyo is cheaper but not great features but under the magic $300. Hope someone else has some good ideas.
I still need to work on the bow mount. I used the headstrap and that worked ok. Most of my shots are under 20 yards anyway and i plan to also try to film from a regular camera in some of my stands as well. Still working on the video editing part also before i post anything (just got the camera last week). Thanks for the input!
Let me know how you like the GoPro. I was looking at that. I ordered the Looxcie and I'm also looking at Panasonic TM90 Good site. http://www.camcorderinfo.com/
I prefer the Kodak PlaySport Zx3 to the GoPro. I actually sell them on the InsaneArchery website for $110 - that price includes a Kodak PlaySport Zx3 and a Mossy Oak camo skin. For $150... it'll include the InsaneArchery camera bow mount.
I am trying to decide now between the Kodak Playsport and the GoPro. Going to be ordering one this weekend!
Simple, if you want zoom pick the Kodak. Though the GoPRO has alot more mounting options, I thought about getting 2 with the 3D sync case so I could shoot in 3D, that seemed to get expensive real quick. Naked Heros you can find for around $230. I would not recommend the Hero 960, doesnt have 1080p or 720p @ 60, and it wont have the expansion port so no option for the lcd viewer. I have the Kodak Zi8, I wanted the external mic option.
