Since there is no DIY section I will post this here. I think the press turned out pretty good. I could not afford to buy one so I decided to make one. I can press any length ATA split limb bow that I know of with this press. If any one wants I can give you all the info you need to build one. I built the press a little overkill though in strength. I will be adding a drawing board attachment soon. So what do ya think? Pressing my sons Bow.
man that thing looks good!!! Did yo umachine the fingers (for lack of a better word) in the last pic?? Oh and will it also do solid limbs? It looks like it will and yes I would love the details.
Very cool man, I wish I had the skills and equipment to be able to do something like that. Everything looked really well done.
Kevin thats awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know a mig weld when I see one :D niiice!! Where did you get the fingers?? Im currently building an X press!
You done a awesome job, I built one several years ago like the hydro press. I like the type you built a lot better.
Outstanding man! I've been dying to start a build for one myself but other than time, my only hold up is finding a place to get the fingers cut. Great job. Looks good.
Great looking work. Just needs a super cool paint job now. Be careful not to sell them (publicly) or you'll get all kinds of nasty-grams from EZ Press. Caution Bar and another guy over on AT got shut down.
Thanks Dan!! I was going to Tig weld it but the cooler motor on it was smoked !! I cut the fingers out of a 1/2" plate of cold rolled steel. I ruff cut them out with a vertical bandsaw and finished them with a milling machine. I used Plastidip tool coating to rubber coat the tips of fingers. I was thinking about building a X press also. Let me know how yours turns out.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments!! I am still debating whether or not to paint it. The tubing is Zinc plated already I would just have to coat the welds. I cannot sell these presses but I can help you make one. Here is a detail drawing of the fingers.
Your linear bow press After reviewing your linear bow press I would like to get the instructions, material list, and where to buy the fingers. Would this press be suitable for all bow types and the short 28 axle to axle?
Very curious in T & M what you have into that press. I have been kicking around the purchase of a EZ press but its been hard to pull the trigger on a 600 press for my own use. Excellent good on it. Thanks.
Haven't seen this thread in a while... I finally just broke down and bought my own EZ press. Would have loved to have had the skillset to build my own, but in the long run I thought it'd just be easier to buy one already made... Again -- NICE work!
