I know it's not even March yet and it will be sometime in June, however I was wondering if anyone knows the exact weekend as I have to request vacation in advance. :tu:

Well guys, sorry to burst everyone's bubble but there will not be a G2G this year. The last few years we've tried to make this event bigger & better however the amount of folks that come out and shoot simply isn't enough to make it worth the effort and time that go into putting it on.

Don't kill me, I'm just the messenger. [IMG]

It's not April 1st, your timing is a bit off.

Well that is a bummer. I was actually looking forward to trying and come for the first time.

Seriously, "worth the effort and time" is not a great choice of words IMO. Probably much more effort and time is involved in those that travel hundreds of miles to be there.

Attendance or we are not making enough money on it? Poorly worded indeed.

Oh I suspect this won't be the only thread on this topic between now and July.

Last years attendance was down and it is a lot of work to put together. At some point it really doesn't make sense to put it together and it looks like we hit that point. I'll miss it, the GTG is always a good time and the only chance to see a bunch of the other members that you only see at it.

I'm new to the site but was seriously contemplating (already taken off from work)coming to meet some of the cool people on the site. That not only blows goats but how you said it kinda makes it look like everything you guys have talked about and the "family" aspect either was a put on or the fans aren't worth it anymore. Ohhh well. Priorities I guess.

Wasn't a member last year, but was hoping on making a trip down this year. How many members would it take showing up for it to be worthwhile having it?

If you guys want me to lie to you or sugar coat it, I'd be more than happy to do so. I can sling BS with the best of them. However I figured I'd be honest as to why the event was cancelled. It was a purely business decision in that we have limited resources available and the amount of investment in both money and time wasn't enough to justify the return. The event was never about making money, it was about reaching people. Attendance the last few years has been roughly 110-120 people, nearly half of whom are either staff members or affiliated with Bowhunting.com in some way. Ultimately we're organizing a rather large scale event for a relatively small number of people. This was the same reason we didn't attend the Harrisburg show this year. It has nothing to do with not wanting to meet people and have a good time, nor was it about not appreciating the folks who did make it out over the years.

We knew this was going to be an unpopular decision, but it is what it is. It was fun while it lasted but, as they say, all good things must come to an end.
