I really feel Todd should've taken the 3 legged buck in the last episode. With this years hard winter and high predator population I think it would have been a good idea to take him before mother nature does. Plus he had a cool lookin rack! I would have taken a shot. Just my opinion. What do you guys think?

I dunno. He already survived one winter injured.

He'd never be alive up here that long

In my opinion Todd made the right decision. That was an old healed injury. At first glance I too was thinking "smoke him" but after further review I agree with TG's decision to pass on that buck. He may look pretty cool next year!

I may be in the minority but

Why not let nature and natural selection work as intended.

If he didn't want the deer, he shouldn't shoot the deer.

As said that was an old injury....the will to survive in these animals is nothing short of amazing.....could the bad leg hurt his chances....sure....but ive seen multiple deer on my cams that had similar injuries show up again and again year after year.....if it was a new injury I would say take the shot....being that he has gotten along with it this long I think it was a good decision

I will withhold my comments until Todd shares his... haha!

I am not sure what I would have done honestly.

I think it should be completely up to the hunter and Todd's decision was not to shoot. I personally would have taken it but only because I think it's only a matter of time before a coyote tracks him down and he doesn't have the mobility to excape.

Coyotes have to eat too. That's part of nature.

Uh yeah but I'm not about to skip a meal so they can have one. Unless I am using this tripod as bait, I'm not going to give something for coyotes to stick around for. But of course that's just me.

I would have probably shot it, but it would have had more to do with the unique rack than the deer being a tripod. That deer was getting around just fine, and look as healthy as any other deer I've seen. I could see killing it if it looked unhealthy and if it was suffering, but that's not how this buck looked.

I'm referring to someone not really wanting it but shoot it so a coyote won't kill it.

If you want the deer, shoot it, if not , let it walk. If it gets killed by a coyote, so be it.

I would have shot. Only because it would have been my biggest buck! lol :busted: We had a doe on our lease several years ago that had a broke hind leg and she survived for 3 years before she just disappeared. I think Todd made the right decision and I can't wait to see what he looks like next year!

Trust me at first i was going to shoot because I thought the deer was mortally wounded, but as he got closer and i saw he was running does and getting around find I changed my mind. And let me tell you when he finally did get down wind he took off like a bat out of H_ll. I feel good about the decision I made and I am hopeful that he will be around next year - I guess only time will tell.
