2016 was the first year NJ had a archery bear hunt which took place in October. I started baiting in August, bears started hitting my bait within 2 days. I had up to 14 different bears hitting it, with a few being 450 lbs to up to 550 lbs. two weeks before the season the bigger bears either disappeared or only came in during night hours. On opening day at 7am I had a bear come in, this bear was on cam at all hours day and night, but I let her go. I sat all day nothing seen, at 3:45pm and very small bear came in, but then it walked off. 15 mins later the bear from the morning came in, took a donut and walked off 50 yards, she came back in and gave me a 15 yard broadside shot, I decided to take it. She ran about 100 yards, the blood trail was great, blood everywhere. Live weight 152 lbs, dress weight 132 lbs., complete passthru !!!!
