Have never use one but have an Elk hunt lined up for 2016 in Colorado, not much left to get but looking to buy a sling to carry Bow. We're riding up mountain in mornings on horses, hunting all day then back down to base camp. Thinking a Bow sling would be very helpful. For those that use them what's been a good reliable one ?
I'd say it would be very helpful, there was one posted from the ATA that was a fast to get on and off which with a stalk in elk hunting might be a good idea. I think a backpack with a bow holder would do good to.
Depends what you're looking for, it you want a sling that will protect your bow during travel there are many options, it you want one to aid while hunting this sling is pretty slick. I actually shoot better with this sling than without. Quick Mitt "Cheater" Bow Sling When you're not hunting having it strapped to your pack imo is a better option than a sling.
I used the Limbsaver Kodiak Lite this year and really liked it. On and off is really quick with a disconnect. It's nice too because the sling has some grip to it and it doesn't move around. Kodiak-Lite Bow Sling | LimbSaver
I use the Primos sling. Love it. It is very comfortable, and does a great job, but is more of a protection sling. It is not designed for quick access.
SnapShot Bow Sling System I use this one. I didn't want any with velcro in case something was close and I needed to take off. This works well. Quiet and easy to take on and off bow.
Cabela's Online Store - Quality Hunting, Fishing, Camping and Outdoor Gear I have this one and like it a fair amount
I have used the promos and it worked fine I will use a bow bat in place of a pack when I am hauling in a stand and that also was a good setup
SFS Bow Kit - Hunting Kits and Accessories | KUIU I use this to protect my strings and sight, its awesome and easy.
Field & Stream Bow Sling - Brown | ****'S Sporting Goods One of my best, cheapest archery investments in the last few years. Well made too, bought my dad one after my moose hunt with it this year.
Some nice slings posted already, all do the job(get one that covers the cams, might take a little longer time to remove but worth it) and I can't see why someone wouldn't use one - I cringe watching the TV hunters walking thru the bush holding their bows by the strings. I have a Primos and I'm thinking of buying a Kuiu for my back up bow - for $30 and less these are a great investment.
