With the 2016 season winding down (or already done for some), and 2017 draws already starting for some states, what are folks 2017 plans beyond their home states.

I know the western bug had taken hold of me and I'd love to head back west for elk again in 2017... Though whether I have the $ and time are big questions, I'm trying to hit the gym regularly so getting back into elk hunting shape isn't such an effort...

I'm changing things up in the Northeast and based on the data I collected on the Buck I've been chasing, I'm going to leave him till late season next year before I pursue him.
Going Home (South Africa) in May for Gemsbok, Kudu and Bushbuck.
Early season I'm going to try MA.
Still putting in for IOWA with the hopes of a draw
Then its back to NY and VT for the rest of the season.
Planning a Elk hunt with some friends for 2018 in AZ.

Playing by ear but I expect peeping will consume most of my time, like planting food plots etc. I do however have a Spring Bear hunt booked with an outfitter in Saskatchewan. Excited about that already. Then its back to whitetails in NC and VA

Going to try and convince wifey that me hunting for a week in Kansas is a good idea.

Not sure how that's going to work out yet though. :moose:

She'll be 4 months by then........and I'm guessing that most of the rest of my hunting will be really close to home.

I'm good at selling stuff, who knows if I'll get this deal closed though.:tu:

I have a few ideas but nothing definite. I'm looking season extending trips. A bow hunt in Texas in January or duck hunt in Mexico in February. As much as I would like to travel to out west and hunt elk, mule deer, and whitetails I don't see that happening next fall.

My 2017 season is so up in the air I don't know where to start. My dad passed in October and he usually did all the scouting for us. I'm in the middle of his trust stuff now and there are some things I'm not so sure about with it regarding his possessions and stuff that's outlined so that could be interesting to say the least with my step mom. Additionally my step mom doesn't want me hunting the property I used to hunt with my dad and her if she isn't with me and she doesn't archery hunt so there's another loop. It's not like I'm 14 and don't know what I'm doing so I don't know what the deal is with that. If I talk to the land owner, whom I know pretty well, she'll probably take it like I'm going behind her back, and then to share the property with her to hunt may not be an option.

So to sum it up, I have no idea WTF next year will bring for me. I guess it's possible I won't even deer hunt. Luckily I do have a local property I can turkey hunt on so that's a plus. Wish me luck fellas!

I really have no clue either. I'm in the process of getting out of IL I have a 2nd interview in the Madison area tomorrow. So hopefully I can get into WI. The only trip I know I'll make is for ducks up in MI at some point.

I will drop everything if I draw a sheep tag. If I get a premium elk tag that will be squeezed In early September.
Mid sept is a caribou hunt
Early October will most likely be a mule deer hunt
November it's two states for whitetail...Kansas and I haven't decided yet.

Peeping is illegal in all 50 states. Especially while baiting.

I will be trying to draw in Colorado again this year. Its been 5 years trying and the last 2 years I thought I would draw, but No. My buddies have drawn with 4-5 points In this unit, so I am hoping this year I will. Going for Mule deer and Elk, not sure if I should go for both on same trip or spit the trip up in separate years.

I'll be putting in for points in Utah again. Other then that I'll be hunting here in Iowa. Really wish I could make it back to the mountains this year.

My daughter will draw a bear tag and my son will draw a Iowa deer tag so most of my time will probably be sitting with them. I am going to start buying points for elk in Colorado.
