Got my first bear last week in Ontario. A 230lb boar. What an amazing hunt!! Got it done on Day 4 of the hunt. Days 1 thru 3 brought nothing but squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and 1 million mosquitoes. We had a trail cam on the bait site though and had a boar coming in all times of the day each day. I was sitting there on day 4 when I heard a tree fall over to the left of me followed by more rustling of the brush. I was thinking that the squirrels are getting crazy over there since every one in bear camp told me that I wouldn't hear the bear coming. But as the noise kept getting louder and closer, I knew it wasn't just squirrels fighting and my heart started beating out of my chest. Moments later a big black head poked out of the brush and in walked my bear. He headed straight over to the bait pile and ate the icing off the top of the logs. He was quartering to me so I had to sit there(physically shaking) and wait. After about 30 seconds he started to move to the other side of the bait and went completely broadside to me, gave a look straight up at me (which was very unnerving to say the least), and then started to mess with the bait logs. Here is where things just about went very wrong. After I drew back, I caught myself literally getting ready to release the arrow with only looking through the site. Thankfully I caught myself and realized that I needed to also look through the peep site, lol. Made the shot and he took off running. I heard him fall and do a death moan. It was a double lung shot and he went 35 yds. The most incredible hunt I've ever been on to date. Unfortunately, in all the shaking and site confusion, I forgot to turn my go pro on. Ugh!!!

Big shout out to Camp Quetico in Ontario. Couldn't have made it a better overall hunting (and fishing) experience.

Anyways, here are a few pictures of him. Now it's off to Colorado with my oldest son on Friday to chase some elk.
