Well thought I'd share with you guys how my Caribou Skull turned out. My buddy in Anchorage picked it up from taxi for me last night and will be storing it at his house. Only 6 short months before I get to see it in person, and 15 months before I have a slim chance at moving there and having it in my possession. If I end up somewhere else career wise next year, I'll just have to figure out a way to get it down here at that point. Hopefully will have a moose skull to add to that mix after this fall too.

For now it will reside in his garage, but I've already bought the skull hooker for when I get to display it in my own home eventually. Lost the velvet due to a week of high temps, and fake velvet would have cost half of what I paid for the hunt expenses itself.... so stained hard horn it is! lol

    My Skull...

And how I hope it turns out on display (not my bou, but how the skull hooker holds them on wall at least)

Beyond Jealous. That, and I slightly hate you.

Skull Hookers are possibly the best inventions out there!

    Sweet! Colors turned out great...

Euro's are growing on me...did my first last year with my elk, and starting to think that is how most will be done. It's hard to pay mounting fees if those $'s could cover another hunt...hope you have a pile of them after this fall!

Thanks man, I'm a full on Euro convert. Maybe once I have more disposable income in 4-5 years I'll change my tune, but for now a caribou/moose shoulder mount would cost me as much as the hunt itself did... and that is asinine, I'd rather go kill another!

In fact, first thing going in the truck for my trek west this fall is a huge soup pot and turkey fryer stand. Any/all animals killed will be simmered and cleaned to the skull to be taken back home legally (can't cross state lines with the brain matter). I'll degrease and whiten them all later in the winter.

As for the color, I'm glad he over darkened them. Showed him a picture of how dark the velvet was, so he tried to mimic that somewhat and give it a just shed yesterday/dried blood type of look. Haven't seen it in person, but it was whiter than a sheet of printer paper when I dropped it off to him, so I'm pleased.

Very nice!! Love that dark color with the white skull - nice contrast.... I'm finding myself doing more and more euro mounts the last few years too. Think they look great, they are very economical (even if you have a taxi do them not to mention anyone can do them if they choose) and they take less room on the wall.

Looks awesome, Congrats! I am tempted to Euro my first buck (when I shoot him) instead of shoulder mounting it just because of how clean/sweet they look on those skull hookers.

That's wicked cool. That's my next dream hunt. Reindeer:)

I bought a skull hooker but didn't care for it and gave it away. Try just wrapping some heavy wire tight behind it and hanging I flat on the wall. IMO.

That a really cool looking euro mount though. Congrats.

Different strokes for different folks for sure. Personally I hate the look of euros flat on the wall because of the angle it puts the antlers at. I have about 4-5 deer skulls on skull hookers currently and like the clean look.

Thanks for the compliments fellas, I'm sure happy how it turned out.

Yeah. I may have had a small skull hooker for the mount.

Love the look of Euros, and also favor them over shoulder mounts.
