Now I know why even the locals have a 'camp' they go to. (and why atvs/motorcycles/horses are everywhere)

I'll get this figured out eventually....
    Congrats on finding the elk.

I have elk hunted since I was sixteen (Im 51) except for a couple years of military stuff. I raised my kids elk hunting now they are in there 20's they do a lot of the work of getting the animal out My elk camp is 14 miles off the highway then we go in any where from 1/2 a mile to 5 miles. I love it.

Or do you think that I need to be hiking everyday along with my Insanity workout?
Snake, if you're doing the Insanity workout regularly you'll be fine. I would recommend hiking with your backpack if you will be hunting with one just to get the feel of it. If you can do it climbing stairs or a hill, so much the better. I've never heard anyone in elk camp say, "gee, I over trained for this hunt".

I had a busy weekend but was able to shoot my broad heads. I will shoot them again but as of now they are flying good.

I've got to get out an practice with mine. May do that in the next day or so. Still trying to decide if I'm going to go with slick tricks or not.

This is exactly what I'm doing. The only bad part is that I have no hills at all around my house. I'm on week 3 of Insanity and have been backpacking and running too. I'm definitely trying to do my best, considering my pack will be 40 something lbs that I will have to haul in and camp out of. If nothing else, at least I am getting healthier.

Loving this excitement. Only problem is I'm still awake at 1 am. Got new issue of extreme elk and I'm not sure I can sleep after seeing some of the pictures and reading articles.

Ran a 10k Saturday. Going to back off the running and try to hike with pack more this next month. Got everything ready. Just time and sleepless nights right now.

I'm hoping one of us can get one or least we have some opportunities to get close. I'm trying not to expect too much, but I'm very optimistic as a person and can't help but believe that I will get one. A novice confidence for elk.

    Good luck to everyone else.

I feel the same way. I go into everything hoping for the best. I've got confidence, but I'm sure most of that is probably just from not knowing any better. I'm still busting tail workin out though. I did some pure cardio, cardio abs, and a 3 mile hike with my pack on today. Feels good.
