Maybe its because im new, but why does it look like every video i see, the large animals appear to be getting shot in the shoulder?? im guessing thats a sweet spot behind a curved bone and just looks that way?
The shoulder bone is father forward than you think. look at a skeleton of a deer gives you a good idea.
Easy way to think about where to shoot is aim for the middle of the front half. That'll put you right where you want to be.
Two visuals - bone structure and vitals. The leg appears that it would continue upward, but on the bone structure visual, you see thats a bit misleading. Aim for the vitals - front half is good guidance.
great visual pics. just be sure to miss that front shoulder. hit one last year dead on the joint, snapped my arrow and the deer walked away like nothing happened tracked over a mile with only a couple drops of blood in snow.
I put it right behind the front leg midway up on broadside shots, quartering shots can be tricky but remember where the vitals are.
i put one through the shoulder last year, ran 30 yds and piled up.. of course you wouldn't "aim" for this shot, especially with a mechanical.
"Especially with a mechanical". Has nothing to do with where or where not to place a shot. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
