I like the idea but have a couple concerns. First it loses the lever action of a typical hangon when the platform as lowered, this is 100% dependent on how tight you can ratchet the straps. My second concern is that I can see it not being as stable as you get on bigger trees. The lower contact points look to be about 9" wide and on a big tree I could see those contact points slipping as you get weight out onto the sides especially since it doesn't have the leverage locking it in place.
That steel seat would definatly need a warmer of some sort. It's not for me but I applaud them for coming up with something other than the standard climber or ladder we see today. This just very well my change some things in the way of tree stands Brad
It's a really neat idea, I think I would feel comfortable in it. But, the weight... Definitely a semi-permanent sort of deal.
Would need a pulley anchored to the tree above where you want the stand. Have to be pulled up from the ground for sure. Like the size of the platform though.
My Half moon stand came the other day. Definitely BIG and heavy. It came with a very thick seat cushion which was a surprise. It will definitely be deployed as a permanent stand. I really like what I see so far. I may buy another half moon stand or quarter moon as they're currently running a 40% off promotion.
Two concerns: 1) Diameter of the cut away 9" would be a nonstarter for most trees I'm in. 2) 41 lbs is not viable for those (like me on NC public land) not allowed permanent sets. If they eventually produce a lighter alloy or cast option (similar to LW) on the other hand

There are tons of stand that's put up and stay up for the season and sometimes several seasons. Also many that get put up right with a four wheeler or truck right next to the tree for the install. A stand like this isn't being marketed as a run and gun set up, however that doesn't mean it doenst have applications. From the looks of it it's very well built and once installed will be a comfortable and sturdy. Placed in a primo spot this can be just the ticket for an all day sit.
I have a similar stand with a wide like that which is great but mine has cables which I reinforced with stainless steel cables but like mine the seat looks on comfortable for long sits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Finally got around to deploying my half moon stand. It was actually really easy. I used a tree strap to secure a carabiner and pulley to the tree and pulled it up into position and tied off the rope. So far I'm very happy with it.
