I'm sort of thinking of upgrading an old Alpine quiver. Haven't seen many new quivers mentioned besides the Tightspot which is way beyond my needs. Did you folks see anything else that looks promising?
You won't really gain anything by upgrading from your alpine if your just taking it off once you get to the tree. Tightspot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats kind of what I'm thinking. The only thing I don't care for about the Alpine Soft loc I have is the mount is enormous on the bow. Its a minor thing though. I have no other wants or needs and have to spend money somewhere. Tightspot is nice, but its overkill for me. I don't shoot with one on like you said. Also, I worry about the quiver getting in the way of my limbdriver cord.
Yeah my requirements for a quiver are pretty simple as mine comes off as well when I hit the tree. Hold arrows, not be stupid heavy. Have a bottle opener.
I really like quivers that have two grippers. This means no foam needed in the hood which is great for expandables. It's not the fanciest quiver, but I've been using the Octane DeadLock Lite. It has the double grippers, comes off quickly and quietly, and mine has been flawless for 3 years now. I pulled the foam out of mine as it's just not needed and I didn't want the foam holding moisture on the heads.
I'm a two gripper fan myself and is a prerequisite for me. I'll take a look again at that quiver. What the Alpine SL does so well is hold arrows very tight and also the mounting system on the bow is rock solid and is almost impossible to pull off the bow accidentally. My test usually involves grabing the arrows while on the quiver and picking the bow up and giving it a bit of a shake. If the arrows come out of the quiver or the quiver comes off the bracket, no good. I can carry my bow by the arrows if I wanted and they won't come out. But again, I just want to try something different/new quiver wise. So far, honestly, the Alpine SL2 is the front runner for me.
I just bought myself the Trophy Ridge 5 Spot quiver. It's seems to be a great value. Cost only $25 but has two grippers that are adjustable, a simple but effective mounting bracket that is also adjustable, and rope loop on the back side of the hood for hanging on a hook. Seems about perfect for something that only needs to carry arrow to the stand/blind and them come off the bow.
